Clint Davis Jr. and his Dad Clint Sr. hunted with us the spring of 2018. With a late snow melt and weather hounding them the entire season, they stuck with it everyday. Blowing snow/rain mixed with howling winds, it would make the most experienced hunter question staying out in the elements. Even after a failed stalk on a really big bear due to a local fishing lodge flying over head and not connecting the following day on a big bear on the runway, Clint Jr. kept after it. He was guided by Owner and guide Cabot Pitts.
As Cabot stated “It can happen just as easy on the first day as it can on the last!”. Not knowing that Clint Jr. would take that literally and at 11:21 p.m., 39 minutes before the close of the season, he harvested the oldest bear taken by a hunter with Alaska Wild Wind Adventures!
This old boar was trying to run down and eat a sow with two cubs. With a couple hundred yard gap in between the boar and sow with cubs, Cabot cut in between them and lead Clint Jr. into a prefect ambush spot. Keeping his cool and waiting for the best shot opportunity, Clint Jr. took a perfect 34 yard shot and backed it up with a second perfectly placed round. Being unbelievably calm and persistent helped Clint Jr. harvest a bear of a lifetime. Being such an old bear it seemed that he had gone “down hill”, with no teeth left, this super old boar was nothing but skin and bones.
Congratulations Clint Jr. on an amazing bear, AWWA looks forward to having you guys back to hunt with us in the future!
