Focusing on high trophy quality combined with a very customized personal hunt, we will be offering up to two moose hunts in our area a year. The Katmai Preserve has harbored excellent trophy moose in the past and was proven this season.
There will be two options for moose hunts. A traditional base camp style camp to a float trip down one of the many river systems within our concession. You will leave camp everyday and hunt from established spotting knobs up and down the river system. Calling and glassing will be utilized to attract and spot trophy bull moose.
The float trip option is a nice float from the headwaters of one of our main river systems. More area is covered on this 40 plus mile float. Camps are mobile but comfortable with a mix of fresh food and freeze dried, a 10×10 cook tent and smaller 3-4 man tents for sleep tents. Hunters can expect to float to pre determined spotting areas where you will stay for 2-3 days and then move further down stream in search of the trophy bull.
September 4 - September 16, 2017
Two options for fall moose hunting. There is a base camp option located in a prime glassing spot overlooking meadows, lakes and ponds. Then there is a float trip option, where you will be dropped at a headwater lake and floating 55-60 miles of preserve, picking up and moving camp when needed to gain new outlooks to find pre-rutting bulls.
